The chance discovery of Toward Liberal Education has been great for my Humanities Education. The book's essays are great and the last one The Basis of Renewal from Lewis Mumford's Condition of Man got me into a lot of Mumford's books. The Toward Liberal Education editions from 1948 to 1955 or so end with The Basis of Renewal. From the Fourth Edition on a writing by Erich Fromm takes the place of Basis of Renewal.

I see Mumford mentioned in Neil Postman's work of the 1990's (maybe in Technopoly or End of Educatin where Mumford is "one of the great noticers", He notices important things) and Nicolas Carrs' The Shallows from the 2000's ( year 2009? 2006? after Carr asked "Is Google Making Us Stupid" before Facebook and TikTok were noticed to further the project)... In Bullshit Jobs David Graeber talks about work rhythms with the help of a 1967 writing by E.P Thompson [1] and the first paragraph of that mentions Mumfords work on the clock from Technics And Civiliazation form page 12 on....
