I'm learning how to pull Fediverse accounts together. I like he way hubzilla gives me a list of the pics in a pixelfed post: I can scroll through them without clicking on those unobtrusive white dots on the photos in pixelfed posts.
I haven't been able to keep up with the chicken photos, but this lighter-colored one might be a mix of Cochin and Silky, one of its (hopefully her) feet seem to have an extra toe. The color is closer to the bigger Silky rooster's leg color too but there's a lot of variation in color. It's the toe count that determines a silky... Maybe both of these chicks need hybrid vigor to hatch in the winter. Six other eggs didn't even come close: mostly just liquid inside when I composted them on day 28. One Silky egg got pretty far along with feathers on the fetus-looking ball inside... It's feet looked a bit mangled like our deformed silkies, but maybe that's a stage in their development and Mangle Foot[1] just managed to survive with certain parts frozen in development.
