FoolPhone Entrapment in _The Shallows_ Net
Trying to explain attention killing studies from Nicolas Carr's book may or may not be convincing for many, but taking a few phones off tables and hiding them from sight up in front of the class works. In a week or two I'll teach "on" and "in" and nobody will want me demonstrating with their phone "on my head"... "My phone is on your head." can be hard to say under pressure, like when "my phone" is on somebody's head that is moving around... The students put up with phone confiscation in my class, probably because it's done with humor. That's what I hope anyway, and that it's not just a case of acquiescense to illegitimate authority.
