Fabulous evening. It was the first really warm day of spring so the Blue Mountains were really blue. As the full moon rose two trees full of kookaburras started trying to out sing and out laugh each other. One on the left and one on my right. Stereo. A kangaroo hopped across the paddock in front of me. A lone car appeared in the distance and over several minutes I watched it approach and then vanish as it wandered down the highway on its way to the hinterlands. In a few kilometers the highway turns into a one lane dirt track through steep cliffs and across rivers. Only crazy people drive that direction after sunset. Only crazy people live out here. At first I wondered if Charles was here watching this spectacle. Don't know why but that's what I was thinking. Then I smiled. It was all too perfect. He probably orchestrated it.
