Extinction Rebellion have always had a controversial relationship with the police.
During the April Rebellion, chants of “we love you” and the practice of liaising with the police before actions drew criticism from some.
During this October rebellion, rebels were arrested under section 14 of the Public Order Act, which bans demonstrators gathering where the order stands.
In the first week of the rebellion, rebels were still allowed to protest in Trafalgar Square – but that changed when a revised section 14 was issued on Monday 14th October.
Speakers include Sian Berry (Co-Leader of the Green Party), George Monbiot (The Guardian Columnist), Rupert Read (Extinction Rebellion Spokesperson), XR lawyers, and XR disabled rebels.
