Take an RPG. Take a Sharpie to it, and scissors, and fire if need be. Remove all the art and illustration and graphic design. Remove the system and every reference to the system. Remove prescribed procedures and any whiff of them. Re-set it in plain Courier on plain paper. That. That's the game I want to know about. With the best games, we can (and many of us do) explore that remainder for decades.
